Arizona Department of Transportation

• Approximately 3.23 persons killed each day.
• One person killed every 7.44 hours.
• There were 192.45 persons injured every day.
• One person injured every 7.48 minutes.
• Drinking drivers were involved in 5.49% of all crashes.
• Drinking drivers were involved in 20.42% of all fatalities.
• Over 79.63% of all drinking drivers involved in crashes were males.
• Rural crashes accounted for 16.78% of all crashes, and 2.23% of all fatal crashes.
• Urban crashes accounted for 83.22% of all crashes and 49.81% of all fatal crashes.
• Seventy-one and three tenths percent (71.3%) of all crashes occurred during daylight hours 6:00a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
• Motor vehicle crashes resulted in $3.4 billion in economic losses to Arizona.
• Fifty-two (52) children were killed and 6,069 children age 14 and younger were injured in motor vehicle crashes.
