The Stay Alive Arizona Students Helping Students Stay Safe through Music is an educational and creative safety activity that will engage students in learning more about the dangers and consequences involved in risky driving behaviors.  The methodology behind the program is simple: to enable students to take a stand on safety in a respected means in which to communicate to each other- through music.  Music influences everyone on some level- and the messages through lyrics can affect the lives of our young teens. In this activity, our ultimate goal is to give students the chance to speak up and to share messages for safer choices.
Stay Alive Arizona Speakers will host a kick off assembly for each high school in the district. This assembly will include a special keynote speaker, highlight the Students Helping Students Stay Safe Program, and provide an opportunity for students to ask questions.

Program Details:

  • Students will have the opportunity to submit a poem, song, rap etc… dealing with responsible decision-making.  They will submit their entry to their school resource officer and a committee from each campus will chose one entry to represent their school.
  • Student bands selected must submit a video/CD using the lyrics of the song, rap, or poem chosen as the entry from each school.
  • Each CD is submitted to the Stay Alive Arizona Board of Directors.  The board directors will be charged with selecting the winning student band.
  • Winning student bands will be featured on local radio and TV stations.
