Founder and President of the Board of Directors
The Joann Realmonte Coalition

Roseann Deak, Bachelor of Arts in Education, is the Founder of Stay Alive Arizona and President of the Board of Directors. Roseann is a high school mathematics teacher at Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Arizona. She began Stay Alive Arizona in response to a safety goal set forth in the School Improvement Plan in 2003.  That year, the site safety goal was to raise awareness among the student population to the dangers of careless driving behaviors. Losing her younger sister Joann to a fatal collision, Roseann felt she could help students understand the unforgiving reality that reckless driving behaviors can lead to.  With the help of her students, a Teen Leadership Retreat was organized for the Spring of 2004. Students attended workshops over the weekend and learned about the fatal consequences of risky driving behaviors. She ultimately hoped that students would realize that their choices while driving could drastically change the course of their life or the lives of other innocent families like her own forever.

Roseann formally organized The Joann Realmonte Coalition as a non-profit organization in the fall of 2005 as a tribute to her sister. She stepped out of the classroom from 2005-2008 in order to develop and implement Stay Alive Arizona Programs at high schools throughout the district and neighboring towns. She strongly believes that it takes a community effort to save lives on our roadways. Her vision was to bring together police officers, firefighters, healthcare professionals, prevention educators and other youth-serving non-profits to develop a powerful program that students would participate in and learn life-saving information. Presently, Stay Alive Arizona hosts a 5-month, student-run Live Broadcast Television Mini Series. This mini series educates an entire high school population in a virtual classroom set up.  Roseann coordinates and facilitates the broadcast mini series at local high schools in the valley. She also continues to develop creative means in which to get the message out to young teen drivers and the community.
